A white door roundel changes the way you read a modern Targa. In the photograph, the number sits inside a bright circle, while the Porsche lettering carries a horizontal line along the lower body. Together they make the tall, curved door look more like a canvas for a racing livery.

A modern car with older visual references

Porsche announced the 2021 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition on June 1, 2020. Its references came from the 1950s and early 1960s, and production was limited to 992 cars. Cherry Metallic was one of five available exterior colors. Gold lettering, white graphics and a crest based on the 1963 design helped connect the contemporary body to that earlier period.

The idea continued inside: corduroy seat and door inserts recalled the 356, alongside contrasting leather. That matters because a heritage specification is more convincing when the exterior and cabin tell the same story.

What the photograph reveals

The bright Targa bar and silver wheels give this example several light-colored reference points. The white roundel is stronger and flatter than those metallic surfaces, so it remains visually distinct even where reflections break up the red bodywork. The black fabric roof supplies a third texture.

This photograph documents a Heritage Design example, rather than serving as a paint-code certificate. Cherry Metallic belongs to the edition’s documented palette; the precise factory paint specification of this individual car is not independently established here. For a color archive, that distinction keeps the model’s design story separate from a claim about one car’s build sheet.
