The 964 Jubilee: Viola Metallic and the Wide-Body Silhouette

Width without the fixed Turbo wing

Porsche’s 2018 retrospective describes the 1993 Jubilee as a combination of the Carrera 4 drivetrain and the Turbo’s coupe body and 17-inch wheels, without the Turbo’s large rear wing. The anniversary marked 30 years of the 911.

The rear view explains the result particularly well. Broad fenders frame a comparatively clean engine cover. With fewer competing shapes above the decklid, the painted shoulders become the main visual feature.

The color pairing

Porsche records Viola Metallic outside and Rubicon Grey full leather inside. Rubicon Grey is the upholstery color in that description; it should not be added to a list of alternative exterior paint names. The photograph’s creator independently identifies the purple exterior as “Viola métal,” but we have not inferred a paint code from that wording.

Sunlight highlights the fender while the shaded deck looks darker. Both belong to the same photographed car. That is why a single screen sample cannot capture how a metallic finish reads across curved panels.

What to keep in the archive

Keep the anniversary identity, body configuration and interior pairing alongside the paint name. Those details explain the specification more clearly than a generic “purple 911” label. They also prevent the anniversary car from being confused with an ordinary narrow-body Carrera or a Turbo solely because the rear arches look familiar.
