Porsche PTS vs PTS Plus: What’s the Difference?

Source context: This program explainer draws on Porsche’s 2025 reporting and August 2026 guide. Its publication date does not indicate a new program announcement. Model-specific availability must be confirmed separately.

Two different starting points

Porsche Paint to Sample lets you choose from an expanded selection of colors that Porsche has already approved. Paint to Sample Plus is the route for developing an individual color from a supplied sample, subject to technical assessment. Porsche explains the distinction in its 2025 account of custom-color development.

That distinction matters when you begin a search. If you have a named Porsche shade in mind, first investigate the approved palette for your model. If you want to match a personal object, you are asking a different question: can Porsche develop and validate that particular finish?

Start with the model

Porsche’s August 2026 configurator guide describes a color browser that filters by model and color group. The overall catalog is not the same as the choices for one particular car.

Our suggestion: build a shortlist of three colors, record their exact names, and compare them on the same model. Then confirm availability and a current quotation for the intended order with your Porsche Centre. Keep those order-specific answers separate from historical information about the shade.

Why a sample needs testing

Porsche’s 2025 explanation describes developing a formula and checking the match under different lighting. Choosing an individual color therefore involves more than naming a hue. A photograph can be a starting point for discussion, but we would avoid treating it as a final reference for a purchase.
