Inside Sonderwunsch: Start With a Personal Brief

Porsche’s August 2025 behind-the-scenes Sonderwunsch series followed owners through the creation of individual cars. Two examples make a particularly useful pairing for anyone interested in how a specification becomes a coherent design.

Agate Grey and Pure Blue

Sylvia Schiefer’s 911 Targa 4 GTS combined Agate Grey Metallic with Pure Blue leather accents. A relatively restrained exterior can leave room for a more expressive cabin; the main body color does not have to carry every part of the story.

Aetna Blue and warmer materials

Hadi Al Hussaini’s 911 Dakar paired Aetna Blue with Cohiba Brown leather and tartan in Truffle Brown, Cognac and Aurum. The documented desert and off-road inspiration gives the material choices a shared reference.

Build a brief before a list

Our takeaway is to start with an idea and then assign each finish a job. Which color leads? Which material connects the cabin to the outside? Which detail is personal? The Porsche owner stories provide concrete examples, without implying that another customer can order an identical specification unchanged.

Color and material names

The German names include Achatgraumetallic (Agate Grey Metallic) and Aetnablau (Aetna Blue). Purblau (Pure Blue) describes the leather accents in the Targa example. Keep the material context with each name. Compare Porsche’s German source.
