A color with a specific reference

Porsche chose Irish Green for the millionth 911, completed in 2017. The reference was personal: Ferry Porsche’s early company 911 was green. Porsche’s account dates his delivery to October 19, 1964, and places Irish Green in the regular color range for model year 1965.

The anniversary car paired its green exterior with Pepita seat centers, a mahogany steering-wheel rim and silver exterior details. Those materials help explain the choice. Green supplies the connection to the early car; the upholstery and trim make that connection visible beyond the paint.

How to use this reference

For a color shortlist, separate the shade from the whole specification. Cover the bright trim in a photograph and consider whether the body color still appeals; then compare a similar view with different wheels and upholstery. This is a way to assess a combination, not to identify a paint formula from pixels.

Names and dates

Porsche’s English report uses Irish Green; its German retrospective uses Irischgrün. Neither spelling establishes a paint code here. This article documents the anniversary specification, not present-day ordering availability. The exhibition photograph shows the completed car under indoor lighting; it is a design reference, not a calibrated paint sample.
