Maritime Blue on a 964 Speedster: Color Around an Open Cabin
Historical color feature: a 1994 964 Speedster photographed at the 2022 Greenwich Concours. Porsche revisited Maritime Blue in its January 16, 2018 color history. Published October 26, 2026.

With its roof down, this Speedster gives Maritime Blue an unusually large role. The color extends from the rounded nose to the cover behind the seats, while the low windshield leaves more of that blue surface visible around the cabin.
Maritime Blue and Maritimblau
Porsche’s January 2018 color history includes Maritime Blue among its vivid early-1990s examples. Its German-language November 29, 2021 announcement about historic paint choices names Maritimblau among colors previously offered for the 964. These are the English and German names used here; the article does not infer a new paint formula from the change in language.
The photographed car is separately identified by its photographer as a 1994 964 Speedster in Maritime Blue, seen at the 2022 Greenwich Concours. The photograph supports a specific visual example rather than a claim about current ordering availability.
Blue surfaces, different light
The hood and upper front fender catch strong daylight. Lower down, the same blue appears deeper beside the front wheel and beneath the door. Reflections from neighboring cars break up the rear bodywork, particularly around the curved cover behind the seats.
Silver wheels provide a relatively neutral comparison. The orange indicators create a small, warm accent at the nose, while the black seat backs and windshield surround frame the opening above the body. None needs to be mistaken for part of the exterior paint palette.
What to keep with a color reference
For an archive entry, the model, photograph date and source identification are as useful as the color name. They prevent an older example from being mistaken for a newly announced finish. A screen image can show how Maritime Blue relates to this Speedster’s shape, but a physical sample or documented paint record is needed for an actual color match. No production rarity claim or factory PTS order is inferred from this photograph.
