Shark Blue on the 992 GT3: A Bright Body and a Thin Wheel Accent
Historical color study: photographed at Goodwood in July 2021, with context from Porsche’s February 17, 2021 GT3 announcement.

Shark Blue has plenty of presence on the broad nose of a 992 GT3, but a smaller detail makes this example especially interesting: the fine blue accent around each dark wheel. It repeats the body color at the edge of a largely black component, linking the wheel to the paint without filling in its spokes.
Color beyond the body panels
Porsche’s February 2021 GT3 announcement explicitly described Shark Blue or Guards Red painted wheel rims as accents for black alloy wheels. That gives the small detail a documented place in the car’s customization story. It was part of a broader discussion of Exclusive Manufaktur options and interior color accents.
The Goodwood photograph makes the relationship easy to see. Blue dominates the fenders and doors; black hood openings and lower intakes interrupt it; yellow brake calipers add a third, much smaller color. The black wheels remain visually light because the spokes recede, while the blue edge defines their circumference.
Use the name, then study the light
The source file identifies this car as Shark Blue. The image is useful for studying contrast and placement, but a photograph is not a calibrated paint sample. The hood, fender and door receive different light, so their apparent saturation varies even within one frame.
For a reference collection, keep the source’s name attached to the image instead of relabeling it as another bright Porsche blue by eye. This feature does not establish the car’s individual order route as Paint to Sample, nor does it make a claim about today’s ordering availability.
The practical design idea is simple: repeat a strong body color sparingly. Here, the rim accent is enough to connect the wheels to the body while preserving the contrast that makes the GT3’s functional openings and aero details legible.
